What To Do After a Root Canal
Anesthesia
Your lips, teeth and tongue may be numb for several hours if anesthesia
was used. While your mouth is numb, you'll want to be careful not to
bite your cheek, lip or tongue. Avoid eating until you regain the feeling
back in your mouth. If the numbness doesn't subside within several
hours or by the following day, contact our office.
Sensitivity
After a root canal your teeth, gums and jaw may be sensitive for a
day or two. You should take any medications for discomfort that the
dentist prescribed while you were at our office.
Crown Required
After a root canal a crown will be required in the near future. The
crown is a necessary covering to protect your tooth after the root
canal. It is important that you schedule an appointment to have the
crown placed on the tooth within the next few months.
